El Clasico

Barcelona 1 - 2 Real Madrid

600million tuned into today's El Clasico between Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid and in the 2nd half the reason for doing so was beautifully depicted.

The first half was for the most part a quiet one with a few chances here and there. The 2nd half however was a completely different story. It was a half which saw 3 goals and a red card for Madrid's Sergio Ramos. This was a huge test for Madrid manager Zinidine Zidane with it being his first real test as boss of the Los Blancos. He proved his tactical awareness with Madrid playing a high pressing game against a Barcelona who didn't know quite what to expect.

Barcelona's only goal came from Spanish national Gerard Pique but despite this giving Barcelona the lead the usually deadly MSN were not up to their normal standard. Quite arguably Ramos should have been off the pitch a long time before his inevitable red card and if the referee had kept a better count of his reckless fouls then the game could have gone quite differently.

Nonetheless Real Madrid were the team which created the better chances and seemed to have more desire to win the game. Gareth Bale's headed goal was wrongfully called offside but this didn't hold Madrid back with Bale crossing in a beautiful pass to Ronaldo who sublimely controlled the ball before putting it into the back of the net to score the winner.
