PL: Liverpool v Chelsea [Review]

The Premier League was back in action this evening and the biggest game undoubtedly took place in Anfield with Liverpool hosting the league leaders, Chelsea.

In the first half Liverpool were definitely playing the better football with Chelsea struggling to pool together a good string of passes for the first first 20 minutes. The game changed however when referee Mark Clattenburg awarded Chelsea a free kick when Hazard went down after not being fouled but having lost control of the ball. David Luiz then reminded everyone what a great free-kick taker he is with a sublime long range effort that Liverpool were not prepared for. It was an undeserved free-kick but nonetheless it was taken very well.

In the 2nd half Liverpool showed relentlessness and were able to tie the score with a Wijnaldum header after James Milner's cross deflected off of Chelsea defender Victor Moses. After this the game became a little more tame although there were chances for both teams and a big one one for Roberto Firmino.

The big talking point however was the penalty awarded to Chelsea after Diego Costa was fouled in the box. Had Hazard not just have been subbed off he probably would have took it but the responsibility was left to Costa. The blues striker struck it to his left and although it was not the best penalty,  the Liverpool GK Mignolet did well to save it.

With Chelsea being so far ahead of the others in the top 4 it is unlikely that they will lose grip of their lead but if they do then this opportunity to have turned 1 point into 3 could prove to be very costly.
